2025 SING! Canadian A Cappella Championships
As part of the 2025 SING! Festival, we are hosting the first ever SING! Canadian A Cappella Championships.
The competition is open to all unaccompanied groups, all styles, all sizes. The 3 competition categories will be High School, Collegiate, and Open (post-collegiate, semi-pro, pro, or other). A committee of a cappella luminaries will choose the competitors from video submissions. Judging will be based 50% on music and 50% on performance, including tuning, rhythm, movement, arrangement, blend, and overall impact. Groups selected from the submissions will be invited to perform at the competition in a Toronto theatre, with finals on May 30th, 2025*.
*This has been updated, as the competition has been condensed to take place on just one night. An earlier version stated May 29 and 30.
Prizes available for winning groups include:
A recording session for one song at the Harris Institute state-of-the art studio in Toronto
Opening slot at the May 31, 2025 headlining concert with SoundCrowd and Deke Sharon
Cash
A Performance slot at next year’s SING! festival in Toronto, Vancouver, or Edmonton
With special guest judge Deke Sharon, the producer of the Pitch Perfect movies, Sing Off NBC-TV series, and contemporary a cappella’s most prolific arranger!
